Highlights

We have pulled together some of the highlights of our trip. Thinking back over the two weeks, those things that stood out in our memories.

The city of Luzern was definitely a highlight, walking around and seeing the architecture, the lion monument, the art museum and the chocolate shops.

The train ride from Luzern to Wengen and scenery along the way was simply gorgeous! Throughout the ride we got closer and closer to the mountains until we were among them.

The mountains were magnificent. We got our main taste of the mountains in Wengen and when we rode the gondola up to Männlichen. There was still snow left in Männlichen so we made a few snow balls and crunched around in the snow while taking in the views.

The spa at the Arenas resort in Wengen was a fabulous, relaxing highlight. Lots of bubbles and jets to massage sore muscles and backs. And, a view of the snow topped mountains while we relaxed.

Being on the TUI Isla was fun and a new experience for both of us. They had great food, entertainment and looked after us really well.

Going through the locks on the TUI Isla was really interesting. They were massive and dropped the boat a really long distance. Over the course of the trip we went through 12 locks and dropped 248 meters an average of over 20 meters per lock. This series of pictures shows you the drop in one of the locks we went through.

The Rhine gorge was magical with all of its castles perched on the mountain sides along the river.

Cologne cathedral was massive both inside and out!

In Rudesheim, our walking tour through the old town and the cable car ride up to the Germania monument were both standouts.

The old towns in both Colmar and Strasbourg were amazing with their half timbered houses and the astronomical clock in Strasbourg was wonderfully intricate.

The Kukenhof garden outside Amsterdam were magnificent, the colors and variety were just stunning!

There were so many highlights during our two weeks away these were only a few. Hope you enjoyed sharing this adventure with us.
